Foams are produced by the combination of insoluble gases and surface active substances. There are many different types of gas, including foam caused by carbon dioxide gas, which is mainly used in the production of batteries and oil refining. So, what are the antifoaming agents to eliminate the carbon dioxide foam? How do they play their role in it?

[I] Battery defoaming agent to solve the bubble problem of battery electrolyte:

The battery will be equipped with a lot of electrolyte, these electrolyte composition is complex, but when the battery discharge heat inside the water vapor will evaporate to form bubbles, electrolyte itself is also a kind of bubbling material, which is the main reason for the generation of bubbles in the battery.

The addition of battery defoamer can quickly disperse in the system within a short time to realize the effect of rapid elimination of foam. The whole process of defoaming is that the battery defoaming agent constantly dissolves the bubble film, speeds up its drainage speed, and makes the bubble film thin to a certain extent, the foam will disappear. In addition, the battery defoamer is also very good in bubble inhibition, after a long period of time after use, the speed and amount of foam generation are significantly reduced.

[II] Crude oil defoamer solves the foam problem during crude oil collection:

In order to improve oil recovery, carbon dioxide is often injected into the oil reservoir during operation, a step called carbon dioxide flooding. As well as increasing the rate of oil recovery, it also creates a bubble problem, but the good news is that this effect can be eliminated.

Too much foam in crude oil will affect the subsequent measurement of water and oil content. The oil-water separator appears false liquid level, making the liquid level difficult to control, affecting the effect of oil and gas separation. Crude oil defoamer can rapidly and stably coalesce carbon dioxide bubbles dispersed in crude oil and solve the problem of separation and bubbling of carbon dioxide and crude oil in a short time.
